Who Gives Christmas Day It’s Power? And How Do You Claim It Back in Less Than 60 Seconds?
There is zero need to feel anything different about Christmas day.
If you DO FEEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT you’ve clear signs that the outside world impacts on your internal world.
Which means anyone and everything can impact on how you feel.
Which means that anyone and everything can impact on what you do, and how successful and happy you are.
Christmas is just a day.
Just one day.
If you see that differently then ask who is creating your perspective of this day?
Who is creating your expectations?
Who is in control of the outcome of this day?
“But Mand” I hear you cry “You don’t have to be with Auntie Maud who is critical of everything I do!”
Why let someone else in your head and be in control of the quality of your thoughts?
That impacts on the quality of your emotions and feelings.
If you are stuck with a Negative Nelly, this Christmas think good thoughts. RIGHT NOW, think of 20 great thoughts that make you smile.
- That night you danced under the stars.
- That swim at dawn.
- That walk with the birdsong.
- That email with your pay rise announced.
- That phone call that said, “All clear”.
- That hand hold that said, “I’ve got you”.
I know it’s not easy, so imagine a force field around you. Think of all the people that love you and want you to be happy, successful and fearless in life (include me!) and imagine us stood before that Auntie Maud or who could find fault with the nicest human on the planet.
Imagine us before the narcissistic passive aggressive person you can’t avoid this Christmas and say nothing. As I tell INsiders “Smile and wave boys, smile and wave” If you know that quote it’s from Madagascar. The Penguins say it just before they escape – again!
So, smile and wave, know I’m in your corner (with many others!) and nothing much matters.
Have some Christmas hacks ready:
(And yes have hacks ready to protect your calm, sanity and priorities.)
- If the cake isn’t iced, big deal – turn it into an activity where guests get to ice their slice anyway, they like.
- If the presents aren’t bought, write out cards saying, “I gift you a day of my time in 2025 and at least 5 hugs a week.” Did you know hugs release feel good endorphins?
- So, gift love.
- Gift time.
- Feel gratitude.
- Notice the roof over your head, the clean water in your cup and the glut of food in your home.
- Pay attention to what you do have and not what you don’t. The quickest way to positive feelings and emotions it to find the good (even in the awful days – especially on the awful days!) so that you can return to calm.
Calm is the state you want for Christmas.
Not presents or mince pies.
Not TV Guides or Parties.
Calm.
